Monet at Musée de l'Orangerie

After six long years of renovations at the Musée de l'Orangerie, Monet’s Waterlilies (Les Nympheas) have never looked better. The artist's famed series is installed in two breathtaking galleries that were once hailed as the “Sistine Chapel of Impressionism.” Monet, however, is only one of many treasures in store for you at the Orangerie. This jewel of a museum is also home to the exceptional modern-art collection of Paul Guillaume and Jean Walter, featuring paintings by Renoir, Cézanne, Picasso, Modigliani, and Matisse.

Your private tour will begin with this collection on the first floor, as you follow the development of modern art since Impressionism. This approach will help you to understand the innovation of Monet’s late work in context, so that your own experience with his Waterlilies will be a more meaningful one.

About this Museum

It Made the Best of Our Time at the Grand Palais

"Having a friend in Paris who will help you skip the long line at any exhibit or museum is only half the fun of working with Paris Muse. The best part is having a knowledgeable guide whose insights add immeasurably to the experience. Our recent tour of the Matisse-Picasso exhibit at the Grand Palais would not have been the same without Ellen's help. Her ability to interpret the exhibit, while also welcoming our opinions, not to mention her sure-footed route through the show and around the crowds, made the best of our time and added tremendously to the experience. We almost hate saying nice things about Paris Muse....we'd like to keep the secret to ourselves!"
